30 Days of Blogging: Day Five

Day 5: What are the 5 things that make you happiest right now?

1. Iced coffee on a hot Summer afternoon.

2. Hearing Amelia Jayne's sweet little voice saying, "I need, too!"

3. Nuzzling up against my husband - whether lying in bed, laying on the couch or standing next to him at church or in the kitchen. Being with him makes me happy.

4. A quick moment alone to read a good book. I'd ask for more, but just a moment or two will do for now.

5. Xander, in his sing-songy, sentimental and mushy way, telling me to "love on him."

*And FYI -
I looked up "mushy" in the dictionary out of simple curiosity.

mushy
adjective

Definition of MUSHY

1
appealing to the emotions in an obvious and tiresome way
"mushy love story"

This most definitely describes my Xander and the way he says things to me, such as, "I need you" or "I want you to love on me."

Hopefully that gives you a clearer picture of how he says it. :)

30 Days of Blogging: Day Four

Day 4: List 5 things you would tell your 16 year-old self if you could

I kind of did this already.
But here's a different version:

1. Study the Proverbs 31 woman. Much can be learned from her.

2. It's okay to be vulnerable. And stop acting like such a know-it-all. You don't.

3. Never wear bras that clasp in the front. Only bad things can happen from this. Like maybe you go to hug a guy friend whom you haven't seen in a couple of years, while at your sister's wedding rehearsal and pop!
Hypothetically speaking, of course.

4. Act silly. Have fun. Do dumb things sometimes. Don't take yourself so seriously. Laughing at yourself is one of the most freeing things, plus it's sometimes the best kind of laughter. And your kids will enjoy you more.

5. Talk to God everyday. And not in a "I have to have a 30-minute quiet time complete with worship music, Bible reading and prayer time" kind of way. Just talk to Him. He really loves you and wants to hear from you. Without all that legalism junk.

Super-cool sister

I've always known my big sister was awesome.
Last week she was recognized for it.
She was named Administrator of the Year for Davie County Schools
at their Board Meeting last Tuesday.
It's a very high honor and I'm so proud of her.

Compare

I love looking at these two almost nine months later. You can tell by looking at the doorknob how much Xander has grown. Amelia Jayne wasn't even standing well at the beginning of the school year, much less walking. Now she's running around everywhere, yelling "Cheese!" if you pull out the camera.

What sweet babies.

I love this one because of the way Amelia Jayne's looking at Xander. You can see how much she loves him and looks up to him, both figuratively and literally!!

Last day of school

Thursday was my kids last day of school. Is it going to feel like this every year? Where are my tissues? It goes so quickly and I just can't believe I'll have a true preschooler next year! The last year before kindergarten...don't get me started.

"Cheeese!"

"Look at my dress!"

Mommy and AJ
AJ and Nana
Grandma and AJ
How did we not get a pic of AJ with Mimi? I'll have to remedy that this week when we see her. And how did we not really get any pics of Xander with anyone? Alas, photography is just not my thing...
Love my big boy!
