The Avett Brothers - Pretty Girl from Raleigh

One of the "Pretty Girl" songs, which has become a tradition to include on most of their albums. This video was recorded at their home in Concord, NC - about 15 minutes from Charlotte. :)

Friends

My friend, Sarah, asked me to watch her daughter while she worked yesterday morning.  Xander and Hannah had a good time playing games and finding treasures on our nature walk.

The Avett Brothers - If it's the Beaches

I'm fairly certain this isn't the official video, but it's one of my favorite songs that they do and the video is good.

Safety first

In the car on Wednesday Xander told me, "Lightning is not being safe!" I asked him want he meant and he explained that Lightning wouldn't stay in his seatbelt and he was "concerned for his safety." And those are his words. Ha!

In the above picture you can see all of the cars "sharing" Xander's seatbelt.

The Avett Brothers - November Blue

Some facts about this song:
1. This is the first Avett Brothers song I ever heard.
2. This song made me fall in love with the Avett Brothers.
3. This was the last song that played at mine and David's wedding reception.
4. I still get teary eyed when I hear this song as it reminds me of the early part of mine and David's relationship.
5. Mine and David's first date was an Avett Brothers concert at the Neighborhood theater (which is 2.5 miles from our current house) and this song was played.

The many faces of Amelia Jayne

I know it's a lot. I just can't help it. She's the cutest thing I ever did see. And I've seen cute. :)

The Avett Brothers - Live and Die

I can't get the video to embed on the blog, so here's the link to watch it on youtube.

Xander's been asking to listen to this song over and over.

The whole album us great. I hope you've been enjoying it, too. :)

B-I-G

We're doing this series at church called Big Church. I'm so pumped by it! I'm so energized and encouraged and ready for BIG! I want to pray big prayers. I want to ask for boldness. I want to be bold! What a great reminder!

Somewhere along the way I kind of forgot about what to pray for. God knows me. He knows I'm pretty scattered and sometimes my concentration is all over the place. And really, he already knows what I'm going to pray before I pray it. But what I want to do, now that I've been reminded, is to talk to God about His desires. I long to pray for the things He's doing so I can come alongside Him and be a part of that. How awesome is that?? Sure, I'm already part of some pretty awesome things, but there's so much more out there. I pray that he would make me bold for His sake.

Acts 4:29

Today's New International Version (TNIV)

29 Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness.

The Avett Brothers - Offering

This isn't the best quality video, but I had to include it. This is the song that David and I danced to for the first dance at our wedding reception. It isn't performed quite this slow on the record, but it's still an amazing song!!
This particular concert was recorded on Xander's first birthday. :)

Bagel bites

Amelia Jayne's first bagel.
Judging by how much of it was left, I'd say it was a hit!!

Papa Love

Considering how this child acted with Papa early on, this picture is a big deal! For some reason Amelia Jayne just couldn't handle Papa when she was a wee baby. All he had to do was walk in the room and she would burst into tears. Thankfully, things have changed now! While we were at the beach she shared her blanket with Papa - the way she shares is to put her blanket in your mouth - and snuggled up close to him. She almost fell asleep in his arms. I think Papa was about as pleased as punch. :) She spent the night with Mimi and Papa about a month ago and the bonding increased. They've been great friends ever since. :)

The Avett Brothers - I and Love and You

My baby boy listens to this song every night to fall asleep. Every. Single. Night.

The Avett Brothers have seeped into each nook and cranny, every part of our lives. :)

Spike Love

My kids love our cat, Spike. Xander was always so good not to pull his tail or hair or grab him. That caused Spike to be more trusting of kids than he used to be. He loves to walk up to Amelia Jayne (if she's with me) and rub on her. Sometimes she grabs handfuls of his fur and he doesn't care one bit. If she sticks her hand out he'll rub on it to get some love. She thinks he is so funny! She smiles, squeals and makes her cat sounds when she sees him. She'll giggle and smile when he rubs on her. It's so sweet! I'm glad I captured one of their moments on film.

The Avett Brothers - The Carpenter Album

In honor of The Avett Brothers' new album, "The Carpenter," coming out on September 11th, I've decided to do an Avett Brothers series of posts, including but not limited to, videos, lyrics and my own thoughts and experiences.

This post will help refresh your memory on the memories my family has made, thanks to these guys.

Summer recap - Baby D

Okay, so BabyD happened back in May, but I just recently received the pictures! Enjoy!
I also included some of our friends who were also part of this great experience.
